We read Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon and The Recess Queen today! The kids LOVE these books. They are great books to discuss being yourself at school and how to be proud of who you are. They also deal with bullying! We discussed what to do if we are being bullied and the importance of standing up for ourselves and others!

Amazing Alliterations

We read Chrysanthemum this week in class. This is one of my all-time favorite books! If you have not read it, you should read it soon!! It is a great book about a little mouse who loves her name... until she goes to school! We have been doing some fun activities with our names! We came up with some alliterations about using our names and things we like.

First Days

Oh my!! These first three days have flown by! We have been busy, busy learning about each other and our classroom. I feel so lucky because these First Graders are so sweet and well behaved. We have already received so many compliments. Today some of our First Graders shared a little about themselves. We called this activity, "Me in a Nutshell." Everyone should have brought home their sack to put things in that will help us to learn about them. We discussed the phrase, "In a Nutshell," and what it means... Make sure to ask your First Grader about that. :)
